My artwork often reflects what I observe from my surroundings. In the summer time I spend a great deal of time outdoors partaking in activities such as hiking, camping and exploring new places. While engaging in these activities I always strive to take my camera with me so that when I spot something interesting I can capture it in order to use for future projects.
I work with a variety of different mediums including graphite, pen and ink, clay, and acrylic paint, but my preferred medium has always been colored pencils. As a child, I would often observe my mom filling in the fine details on one of her extraordinary pet portraits with a freshly sharpened colored pencil in amazement. Thanks to my mother’s passion and talent for drawing I also became very fond of art. Moreover, because of my mom’s influence, working with colored pencils has become one of my favorite mediums to work with and my colored pencils drawings are some of my most successful pieces.
While I am in the creating phases of my drawings, I desire that onlookers will experience feelings, emotion and interest as they are viewing my artwork. My most recent series of drawings stems from my interest in abandoned buildings and ghost towns. By drawing images of old homesteads, old mines and weathered wood sidings I hope to bring beauty to these long forgotten places. I believe that each of my drawings and the buildings within these drawings have a story to tell.
